Eating Out With Charles Dickens
This was the first book I was involved with, it all started with an enquiry to a friend of mine when I asked what he was doing since he retired, he told me that he and a friend were working on a book about the places Charles Dickens went to, Pubs, Inns and Hotels, not only in this country but also in the USA, they had to be still trading today, he told me that they had all of the info and photos for the book but had no way to get it into book form.
I was always fiddling on my computer with Photoshop so told him if they got stuck I would love to get involved, a few weeks later, a knock on the door, it was Ron Cook and Reg Edmondson, after a 2 hour meeting in my study I was hooked, I spent most of my spare time for the next 18 months working on the book, I produced 162 pages including the covers, all ready for printing, we spent quite a long time checking, grammar, spelling and placement on the pages.
When the book was ready for print Reg and Ron introduced me to Cedric Charles Dickens, great-grand Son of Charles Dickens, in fact Cedric wrote the forward to the book. I set up a partnership to finance and publish the book and was honoured to have Cedric as the fourth partner in our venture. We sold over 2,000 copies and It got me hooked on books, I went on to produce a couple of other books for publishing also I produced thirty-three one-off books for my own records of my photos, projects and holidays.
